Amazon Go is the first ever smart shop to be opened in 2018 in Seattle. The idea is that it is check-out free, so you walk in scan your mobile phone and when you pick items of the shelf they are added to your personal shopping list, when you leave the items are automatically scanned and payment taken via your mobile phone. Do check-out assistants, cashiers bring anything to the shopping experience, that will now be missing? My experiences have mainly been negative with disinterested check-out assistants, so I will be happy not to have to deal with them. I think this is a really exciting use of technology to shop and believe Amazon Go is here to stay as it is rolled out across the world in the future.
